This detailed andhand strung beaded necklace was a gleeful discovery in a family owned shop in a community next to Lake Atitlan. The owners and the artisans areindigenous Kaquichel Mayans. They speak the Kaqchiquel language (not Spanish) in their home and amongst locals. All of their creations are inspired by local styles and the designs are born by the creative imaginations of the woman who meticulously craft each piece. We love the lace-like look of this necklace's pattern. You will lovedressing it up or using it to embellish casual outfits.

** The additional photos are of Lake Atitlan, another is of me and a couple of cute hostesses during my stay near Lake Atitlan, and of course the most important is a glimpse of the mayan women making beautiful jewelry like this special piece.
